Well folks, here it is! Our First Wedding Anniversary!
We had a tremendous day today. We started our day with breakfast at Fayze’s in downtown La Crosse. Our plan today was to just have a nice day together, enjoy breakfast and supper together, and then go to the La Crosse fireworks display at Grandad’s Bluff, but things changed along the way. After breakfast, we went shopping and then headed home, where we would relax before heading to dinner.
After getting home, Carrie was going to put our vacuum cleaner away when she told me about how it gave her a big puff of dust the last time she used it. Carrie suggested that if it did that again to her, that she was getting a new one. I said, “why not just do it? Let’s just go get one.”
I should mention that earlier this month, we went to Sam’s club and found that they were offering 18 month, 0% financing on some purchases with their Sam’s Discover card. So about 3 weeks ago, we went to Sam’s to get me a new Laptop on that deal. My old one is 5 years old and REALLY slow.
So we headed over to Sam’s Club, because I have always wanted to get a Dyson. When we got there, Carrie had noticed that there was a display for some Bose Home Entertainment systems. So we looked at those for a bit. I have always wanted a Bose sound system to play music at home (and the radio), but until this past summer, I had never even considered getting one for our TV. So I said that we should just go look at the Dyson for a bit, so we did. That didn’t take long, because there was only one choice of Dyson vacuum cleaners.
Soooooo….
We walked back over to the Bose systems again. Today was the last day of the 0% 18 month financing, so we decided to get that, too! Then Carrie said that if we are going to get a Bose system, we should also get ourselves a flat-screen TV. By the time we were done, our little puff of dust from our old vacuum turned into a Dyson vacuum cleaner, a new Bose Entertainment System, and a new flat-screen TV! I think we are set for a while.
So we got our new treasures home and then headed to dinner, but instead of heading to the Freight House, we just went to Applebees so we could get back home and set up our new system and use our Dyson to clean up the area when we were setting it all up! And we will watch the fireworks on our new TV with the Bose system.
That’s how our First Wedding Anniversary went. More another time. Gotta go see the fireworks now!

Happy Easter, everyone!

Us at The Waterfront listening to Mike James
This past Friday, April 10th, 2009, Carrie and I celebrated 100 days of marriage together. Of course, being the male that I am, I did not REALIZE that it was our 100 day anniversary. Fortunately, Carrie and I chose our wedding date as December 31st, so at least the ANNUAL celebrations will be easy for me to remember. We went out to The Waterfront Restaurant to celebrate with dinner. After dinner, we headed over to their lounge to listen to Mike James and his trio play some jazz. Mike plays guitar with me in our church’s worship band at Bethany EFC in La Crosse. We met several friends from church there, including our Senior Pastor and his wife, our Worship Pastor and his wife, and several other friends from our church. We had a great time visiting with everyone and listening to Mike and his trio.

I have the goats' attention.
Today after church, Carrie and I went to her Mom’s farm for Easter Sunday. We spent time with Diane and Gordon, Irma, and Ben and Giselle for dinner, then went outside to enjoy the weather. Diane wanted someone to put a collar with a bell back on one of the goats, which Ben did. I noticed that one of the goats continually kept it’s tongue hanging out while it was playing with the other goat. I started to get my face closer to it and then stuck out my tongue at it. The noise I made must have fascinated the goats, because I held their attention for quite a while. They just stood there and stared at me and stared at me. Come to think about it, maybe they were just thinking that I was really weird, because everyone else was laughing at me. Oh well.
This past Monday night I picked up the kids from Tomah after work and brought them back to our house. They were all on spring break. Elizabeth drove herself and Danielle in their van because they had to go back to their house on Tuesday afternoon due to prior commitments. The other 3 kids stayed with us through Wednesday morning when I took them back home on my way to work. One of the kids got sick while we were at the mall. Carrie did a great job helping to get everything cleaned up, clothes washed, kid bathed, etc. Every day I appreciate her more and more.
Wednesday night after work, Carrie picked up Elizabeth and then me. We drove up to Eau Claire, WI to see a Senior Voice recital. We didn’t know who the soloist was, but Elizabeth has been scheduling campus visits and thought it would be a good idea to go to the recital to experience that. The next day, she went back to UW-Eau Claire for an “official” campus visit to check everything else out. Our trip to the recital was a very good experience.
Late this past Friday night or early this past Saturday morning, I surpassed 20,000 followers on Twitter. As I write this (Sunday night), I have over 21,000 followers. Since I shared my 10,000 follower milestone, I thought I would share this one, too!
This next Thursday, I am taking Elizabeth on a campus visit to UW-La Crosseall day. Next week Friday, Elizabethand I will be going to UW-Madison for another campus visit. I am looking forward to going with her on these.
Carrie finished up week 1 of her 10 week quarter at school this week. Only 9 more weeks until she graduates with her Bachelor Degree! Woo Hoo! She does tell me that there was a LOT of work this week and she hopes that all 10 weeks do not have this much work in them. Me too!
More next week!
